A new farm shop and bed and breakfast are among new projects planned for a Chatsworth macadamia farm as part of a five-year expansion planned to be finished in 2023.
The extensions to Baupal Park Farm were revealed in a new planning application from owner Kate Rose to Gympie Regional Council seeking planning approval for the upgrades.
Mrs Rose took over the farm at Meadows Lane in 2018.
A new farm shop and cafe built inside an existing shed is expected to be open by the end of the year.
The final piece of the expansion, renovating and transforming a farmhouse into a bed and breakfast, is expected to start by mid-2023 and take 18 months to finish.
Mrs Rose said the new “value add shop” would, if approved, would allow Baupal Park to expand the farmers’ market business it runs at Gympie’s markets.
“Including the shop onsite will allow more value add products to be made and stocked, and greater flexibility and availability for customers to find them,” Mrs Rose said.
Some part’s of the expansion are already underway or completed.
A commercial kitchen was installed in the middle of last year, and a 200m sq organic vegetable farm has also been added.
The development application is seeking planning permission
