The Council has spoken out on delays.

Araluen, Chatsworth, Corella and Gunalda residents have been told to expect delays in their rubbish collection, as Covid play havoc with staffing for contractors to Gympie Regional Council.

Council director of Community Sustainability, Adrian Burns, said the delays were mostly due to Covid-19 and asked those residents who were impacted to be patient.

“The reality is, Covid-19 has been, and will continue to be disruptive, to our region for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately council is not excluded from this,” he said.

Mr Burns said due to the unpredictable nature of Covid, isolation policies were often communicated at the last minute.

“We are working with our contractor on this and they have advertised for additional casual support,” he said.

Residents are encouraged to call council on 1300 307 800 if they have any direct questions or concerns.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank residents for their patience with us. Our regular services will resume directly (pending further COVID-19 impacts),” he said.
