We have crunched the numbers, and can now officially reveal the Gympie Region’s most eligible bachelor for 2025 — fair warning: this 35-year-old firefighter may cause spontaneous combustion.
Adam McGuire has set hearts ablaze to be voted Gympie’s most eligible single man from a competitive list of 30 finalists.
The auxiliary firefighter was nominated by multiple friends, and labelled “Gympie’s most eligible human, full stop”.
Well, our readers speak for themselves — with an impressive 20 per cent of voters rooting for Mr McGuire, it’s safe to say his big heart and community spirit rocketed him to the top.
If you thought being a firefighter wasn’t hot enough, fret not: Mr McGuire’s high-octane lifestyle extends past working hours.
“I’d say I’m a calculated adrenaline seeker,” he said.
“Between mountain biking, off-road racing in the Australian championship as a co-driver for my best mate of 17 years, and keeping the skills sharp on my enduro bike or hitting the motocross tracks”, Mr McGuire said he was used to getting the heart racing.
“I wear a lot of hats but manage to juggle it all pretty well.”
The fireman said he grew up in the Mary Valley, and did his carpentry apprenticeship around the Gympie region.
He then studied to become a low rise builder, and said he worked his way “up into more management roles over the years”.
“Funny enough, the guys who actually nominated me for this are my local firefighter crew, so this is all really their doing!”
Feeling the heat yet, ladies? Here’s what this 35-year-old stud is after in a relationship.
“I’m definitely looking for someone who’s already found their feet in life and knows where they’re heading,” Mr McGuire said.
“In the past, trying to have someone fit into my lifestyle hasn’t really worked.
“My most valuable commodity is time — I’m pretty poor in it, so when I have it, it’s valued.”
Mr McGuire is headed to the second round of the Waikerie Hotel Riverland Enduro Race in South Australia this weekend, but don’t worry — he’ll be back in town soon.
Jake Thomas collected an impressive 14 per cent of voters’ hearts, securing a solid second place.
In third place was Ben Hockey with 12 per cent of the vote.
Coming in fourth was Ryan Barnes, claiming 8 per cent of the vote.
Tied in fifth place were Liam Jensen and Reece Mackay, both taking home 7 per cent of the vote.
Congratulations to Mr McGuire, and well done to all of our fantastic competitors.
