A RECOVERED ice-user broke down in Gympie Magistrates Court on Thursday when she faced a drug-driving charge issued in Brisbane in April.

Kelly Maree Hicks, 42, who pleaded guilty to the charge, told the court her horrific time with the drug ice is now over.

"I had come out of a very abusive physical and mental relationship," the distraught women told the court.

"Instead of seeking professional help I turned to ice.

"I made really bad choices. A so-called friend introduced me to ice and at first it helped but it pretty well nearly destroyed my life."

The woman said after intense drug and personal counselling she has not touched the drug since April.

She wants to move past the ordeal but realises punishment has to come from her actions.

Magistrate B. Barrett accepted the woman's co-operation and early plea of guilty in court.

"You have embarked on successful rehabilitation. You have obvious ongoing remorse for your actions" he said.

Hicks was fined $200 and disqualified from driving for one month.
