Gympie residents are being urged to steer clear of the popular Mary River to Rail Trail as authorities hunt two dangerous dogs believed to been involved in a series of attacks on Friday.
Gympie Regional Council said police and rangers were searching for the animals in the vicinity of the walking track and Albert Park.
The dogs are described as a bull-mastiff cross and mixed breed, one black and one tan.
“(The) council is urging people to avoid the River to Rail Trail until such time as the dogs are captured, and to keep an eye out as these dogs are moving around quickly,” a spokeswoman said.
“We urge the community to remain vigilant, do not approach, and report any sightings via triple-0.”
The search comes after a man in his 30s has been taken to Gympie Hospital after being bitten by a dog shortly before 11am.
Paramedics were called to an address at Park Lane, near the centre of the city, following the attack.
A Queensland Ambulance Spokeswoman said the man suffered a laceration to his arm in the incident.
He was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
