A series of terrifying attacks from two dangerous dogs on three Gympie residents on Friday has led to the dogs being euthanased and three people taken to hospital.
Investigations were launched following the attacks earlier in the day in Bligh Street and then near the netball courts and Mary River to Rail Trail.
A search for the dogs was launched after the attacks started when a man in his 30s was bitten on the arm by one of the dog shortly before 11am at a Park Lane address.
He was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Gympie residents were urged to steer clear of the River to Rail Trail and Albert Park from midday as authorities searched for the dogs.
Emergency services were then called to nearby Gladstone St about 1pm, when a woman in her late 50s was bitten on the arm.
Not more than 10 minutes later paramedics were called to Bligh St, about 100m away, when a woman in her early 60s was also bitten on the arm.
The two women were each taken to hospital following the attacks.
The dogs, a bull-mastiff cross and mixed breed, one black and one tan were finally captured about 3.30pm.
A Gympie Regional Council spokeswoman said after the dogs were caught authorities “will now commence a full investigation into the incidents today and the offending dogs will be managed appropriately in accordance with local laws”.
They were euthanised by 4.30pm.
