A man in his 50s was flown to Brisbane following the two-vehicle crash but has sadly died from his injuries.

A man has tragically died in hospital after spending 16 days fighting for life after a serious head-on crash on the Dawson Highway and Gladstone Monto Road/Tableland Road at Calliope on May 1.
Queensland Police Service confirmed late on May 16 the man, who had been airlifted to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital after the crash, had died from his injuries. Police confirmed that about 5.55am on May 1 a Toyota Landcruiser was travelling west on Tablelands Road when it collided with a Nissan Patrol headed in the opposite direction.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash at 5.58am to reports of one person entrapped.
A male patient in his 30s, the driver of the Toyota Landcruiser, was transported to hospital via ambulance in a stable condition with chest injuries to Gladstone Hospital.
Another man, in his 50s, who was driving the Nissan Patrol, was in a serious condition and the RACQ Capricorn Rescue helicopter was called in for assistance.
The helicopter flew the man directly to the Royal Flying Doctor Service at Rockhampton Airport who then took him Brisbane.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
