Suburb breakdown of every CQ Covid case in the past week

A remote health clinic has been forced to shut down after a Covid-positive patient visited and sent many staff members into isolation.

A remote Central Queensland health clinic has had to shut down due to a Covid-positive visitor, as the region continues to record more cases.

Central West Hospital and Health Service announced on Thursday that Alpha’s Multipurpose Health Service was in temporary lockdown after staff were exposed to a Covid-positive patient.

A total of 23 Alpha MPHS staff members had to go into isolation as a result and replacement facilities needed to be rushed to the centre.

CWHHS hopes to have the facilities back up and running after doing a deep clean.

The patient was transferred to Emerald Hospital via ambulance.

“We currently have 12 staff at Alpha, which is equivalent to a full normal day shift,” CWHHS chief executive Anthony West said.

“While Alpha is in lockdown, local residents are being directed to seek emergency care if required through the triple-0 system.

“Alpha residents who have GP or other consultations scheduled at the MPHS over the next week are being contacted to have their appointments rescheduled.

“COVID-19 testing is available via appointment at the Alpha MPHS.”

A total of 10 new cases were detected in Central West Queensland on January 13, bringing the active case number to 58 - three fewer than Wednesday.

One case is in Alpha, one in Aramac, 12 in Barcaldine, one in Bedourie, 15 in Blackall, one in Boulia, 24 in Longreach, two in Winton and one in Muttaburra.

A total of 2995 booster doses have been given across the Central West, according to Mr West.

Further east in Central Queensland, 480 cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours, many due to the testing machines being fixed.

Of these, 152 were in Rockhampton, 147 in Gladstone, 96 in Livingstone, 54 in Central Highlands, 16 in Banana Shire, two in Woorabinda and 13 Central Queenslanders elsewhere.

There were five patients in Rockhampton’s Covid ward in stable conditions as of 8am on Thursday.
