Three juveniles allegedly at the centre of a vandalism attack that caused $20,000 worth of damage at a Gladstone school have been arrested.
Sergeant Wayne Butcher said two 14-year-old boys and a 15-year-old girl were allegedly to blame for the graffiti found at St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School last week.
“They spray painted all the security cameras, just being general nuisances and graffiti all over the Clinton, shops and the like,” Mr Butcher said.
Mr Butcher said unfortunately the school and business owners had to foot the bill to remove the graffiti.
Mr Butcher said the response MyPolice Gladstone received from the community regarding a statement on the incident was really good.
“We received a large amount of information which solved both of these crimes, the one at Auckland House and Saint Johns really quickly.
“That is what we are after, we can do warrants on these houses and get the evidence we need to prove they’ve committed the offences, it’s great to see the community get involved.”
The three teenagers have been charged with 14 offences including enter and commit, wilful damage and stealing.
They are expected to be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.
St Johns principal Jamie Emerick thanked the police for their assistance on behalf of the school community.
“As this matter is the subject of an ongoing police investigation, it would not be appropriate for me to make any further comment,” he said.
