A Gladstone family watched in horror as two houses they owned were destroyed “in a blink of an eye” as fire consumed them.

Rhiannon Kent posted a photograph of firefighters in action at the Agnes Street, South Gladstone, fire scene this morning.

She wrote: “It’s hard to see your house that you grew up in just burnt to nothing.

“But what’s even harder is seeing the parents that worked so hard in their life for the both of those houses to be just taken away from them in a blink of an eye.

“And to see my little brother just lose everything too … I just want to be able to take the pain away.”

Queensland police are appealing to residents to check their dashcams and CCTVs to see if there is footage that may assist detectives investigating the two suspicious house fires.

Emergency services were called about 6.20am to Agnes Street where the two neighbouring houses were well alight.

Occupants were safely evacuated from one house, the other was vacant. Both dwellings were destroyed.

Following initial investigations, a crime scene was declared.

Police wish to speak to anyone who may have observed suspicious activity in the area overnight and this morning.

Homeowners and motorists are asked to review CCTV and dashcam footage capturing vehicles coming and going, or persons on foot between 5.30am and 6.30am this morning (September 5).
