Gladstone seniors will soon get the recognition they deserve, as preparations begin on an iconic history project.

Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum is calling on the community to nominate special seniors to participate in its Our Priceless Past initiative.

Participating nominees, aged 70 years or over who have lived in the area for 30 years or more, will be interviewed by students from Toolooa State High School.

Gladstone region Mayor Matt Burnett said selected students would capture the priceless history from some of Gladstone’s long-standing residents.

Mr Burnett said local filmmakers would also add a new dimension to the 2021 project by developing a series of short films in conjunction with the popular project.

Our Priceless Past was initiated between GRAGM and The Observer in 1999 to celebrate the International Year of Old Persons.

To date, the stories of 300 seniors have been told through the words of 484 participating students.

If you would like to nominate a special senior, please email gragm@gladstone.qld.gov.au or phone 4976 6766. Nominations close on July 30.
