Gladstone Regional Council has nominated a date for next year’s show public holiday.

In a general meeting on June 6, councillors unanimously voted to have August 8, 2022 as Gladstone’s nominated show holiday.

The date will align with Brisbane’s EKKA.

Gladstone Regional Council has nominated August to celebrate the show holiday in previous years.

In 2021, Monday 9 August was nominated as the Gladstone Show Holiday in line with the Brisbane “Ekka” Show.

In 2018, a ReachTel phone poll was conducted to gain community feedback into the proposed show holiday and attendance at the Gladstone Show, a Gladstone Region Council report stated.

Of the participants, 75 per cent indicated they would like to see the holiday in line with a long weekend.
