A woman has faced a Central Queensland court on an aggravated domestic violence charge after she completely lost her cool over her out-of-work husband going to strip clubs.
The woman, who by law cannot be named, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday to contravening a domestic violence order.
The court heard the woman had three previous convictions for similar offending.
In relation to the latest incident, police prosecutor Jennifer Leach said on January 7, police were called to a disturbance at a Tannum Sands home.
“Police received multiple calls to attend (the home) in relation to (the woman) yelling and screaming, along with the sounds of smashing property,” Ms Leach said.
After arriving, police saw outdoor plants had been snapped off at their trunks.
The court heard during the woman’s outburst, after drinking wine, she smashed her iPhone and her husband’s iPad.
Ms Leach said the woman told police she’d had an argument with her husband about him not working and attending strip clubs.
“The (woman) further stated she threw all (her husband’s) medication in the bin because she thinks (he) is putting on an act and is not in pain anymore,” Ms Leach said.
Solicitor Rio Ramos said the woman was unemployed and she tendered a letter written by her client to the court.
That was read by Magistrate Mary Buchanan but not to the court.
Ms Ramos said the woman was willing to engage in probation so that she could receive counselling.
Magistrate Buchanan placed the woman on 12 months’ probation and a conviction was recorded.
