Three people, including a child, will face court in Gladstone after being charged for separate incidents, which included a serious assault of police.

An 18-year-old Tannum Sands man will face court this month after an alleged serious assault of police and public nuisance on Goondoon Street.

Police were patrolling the Gladstone Safe Night Precinct about 3am on March 5 when they saw the man being treated for a head injury by Nightwatch Chaplains.

The man allegedly swore at police when they were checking on him, before he ran away and became involved in an altercation with members of the public, trying to start a fight.

The man allegedly pushed a person over and punched a police officer before he was arrested and restrained.

It is further alleged when police tried to apply first aid to the man’s head wound, he threatened to bite one of the officers and a Nightwatch Chaplain.

When the man was put in the back of the police vehicle he allegedly began headbutting the perspex divider screen and spitting.

When at the Gladstone Watch House, the 18-year-old allegedly spat on the floor multiple times, before headbutting a police officer and kicking the officer in the torso.

QAS paramedics took the man to Gladstone Hospital with police, where it is further alleged the man tried to bite a police officer’s arm before being sedated.

The 18-year-old was charged with one count of public nuisance, five counts of serious assault police and two counts of wilful damage of police property.

He was granted bail and is expected to face Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 27.

The man then allegedly went to an address on Auckland St where he began yelling at a 53-year-old man before a member of the public approached them.

It’s alleged the 39-year-old man wrestled the member of the public to the ground and punched the 53-year-old man upon police arrival.
