Traffic offenders who faced Gladstone Magistrates Court

A truck driver caught drink driving at Gladstone was among the latest traffic offenders to face court to get their punishment.

The following people recently pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to either drink or drug-driving, or unlicensed driving, on the region’s roads.

Traffic conviction recorded

Luke Michael Fowler, 27

Luke Michael Fowler blew a reading of .111 when he was caught drink driving while his licence was SPER suspended, on Yarroon Street, Gladstone, on February 25.

Fowler pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 21 to drink driving and unlicensed driving.

He was fined $800 and disqualified from driving for six months.

John Paul Dale, 54

John Paul Dale blew a reading of .098 when he was caught drink driving on Lord Street, Gladstone, on February 26.

Dale pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 21 to drink driving.

The court heard Dale had not intended to drive but he drove to a house to help sort an ongoing family dispute.

With no offending of this sort in the past five years, Dale was fined $400 and disqualified from driving for two months.

Gary Lee O’Connor, 53

Gary Lee O’Connor blew a reading of .042 at Barney Point on March 1 when he was subject to a zero blood alcohol limit as a truck driver.

O’Connor pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 21 to driving a truck while over the no alcohol limit.

With a previous drink driving offence on his history in the past five years, O’Connor was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Crystal Grace He Fonoga Kanavale, 27

Crystal Grace He Fonoga Kanavale was caught driving while SPER suspended on Lord Street, Gladstone, on November 19 last year.

Kanavale pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 21 to unlicensed driving.

She was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Paul Christopher Snow, 45

Paul Christopher Snow pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 13 to speeding and drink driving.

The court heard that on January 8, police intercepted Snow on the Burnett Highway in the Maryborough region.

The prosecution said Snow was clocked driving at 126kmh in a 100kmh zone and after being intercepted, he produced his probationary driver’s licence which meant he was subject to a zero blood alcohol limit.

He subsequently returned a reading of .035.

The court heard that on the day of Snow’s offending, he was urgently trying to get to Gladstone Hospital where his wife had been taken the previous night and her condition had worsened.

The court was told Snow had a previous drink driving offence in 2022.

For his latest offending, Snow, who told the court he was currently not working, was fined $1400 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Tegan Caroline Smith, 23

Tegan Caroline Smith was caught driving while SPER suspended on Palm Drive, West Gladstone, on February 20.

Smith pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 13 to unlicensed driving.

With no previous offending of this sort, Smith was fined $300 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Connor Michael Van Dartel, 29

Connor Michael Van Dartel was caught driving while SPER suspended at Woodford on September 23 last year.

Van Dartel pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 13 to unlicensed driving.

He was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Amber Sarah Moore, 28

Amber Sarah Moore was caught driving while SPER suspended on Butler Street, New Auckland, on February 16.

Moore pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 13 to unlicensed driving.

The court heard that Moore had similar offending on her traffic history.

Lathan Raymond Peters, 23

Lathan Raymond Peters pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on March 15 to unlicensed driving.

The court heard Peters was charged after police caught him riding a motorbike on the Bradfield Highway at Kangaroo Point.

With previous unlicensed driving offending on his traffic history, Peters was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.
