A man who allegedly threatened to bash a woman’s husband outside a busy Gladstone region supermarket applied for bail on Monday.

Scott Robert Morrison, 52, is charged with common assault and breach of bail condition and appeared via videolink in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

According to court documents, On July 23 Morrison was released on a bail undertaking under the condition he be of good behaviour and not contact the man.

On October 5 the man and his wife attended Calliope Police Station to report two incidents which involved Morrison where he allegedly made threats against them.

On September 22, the woman recalled walking into Drakes Calliope supermarket when Morrison allegedly yelled at her stating, “tell your husband I’m going to f---ing smash him next time I see him”.

Both the man and his wife recalled another incident on October 5, where Morrison had allegedly seen them in their car at the same supermarket and pointed his fingers at the car like a gun.

The man attempted to drive the car out of the car park, however, Morrison allegedly followed the vehicle and approached the passenger’s side before thumping his hands against the woman’s window.

The man recalled driving away because he believed Morrison wanted to fight as he was allegedly gesturing towards him to approach.

Police attended the supermarket and obtained CCTV footage of the incident, also speaking with employees.

A cashier told police she saw Morrison allegedly hit the car with his fists at least two or three times and said “c’mon, c’mon you dog c--- I’ll smash you”.

On October 9 police attended Morrison’s address where he refused to be interviewed and was subsequently arrested and transported to Gladstone watch house.

Morrison’s lawyer Rob Kendrick said his client had a wake up call after spending the past two nights in the Gladstone watch house.

“He understands that he needs to be on his absolute best behaviour if he is to remain out in the community,” Mr Kendrick said.

“The alleged victim is not a stranger, he’s a mate of 30 years, but they have gone their separate ways last year after his friend allegedly started abusing methamphetamine.”

Police prosecutor senior constable Carl Spargo said Morrison did not care about any sort of threats towards other people.

“He simply has no respect for anybody,” Mr Spargo said.

“He is simply an unacceptable risk of further offending, he’s shown that time and time again and in my submission this is serious offending.”

However, Acting Magistrate Ron Muirhead granted bail.

“There is not a shadow of a doubt anymore charges brought about by the prosecution, bail would have been refused straight away,” he said.

“I am a good man, Your Honour, I really am,” Morrison said.

Morrison’s matters will be heard again on November 1 at 2pm in Gladstone Magistrates Court.
