A teenager who was involved in a violent street fight near a Central Queensland nightclub in the early hours of New Year’s Day, has faced court.
Rhys Lindsay Llewellyn-Bond, 18, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to public nuisance in the vicinity of a licensed premises.
The court heard that just after 5am on January 1, “multiple police” were required to attend a “violent” street fight near Gladstone’s Mieplace Niteclub.
“During that fight (Llewellyn-Bond) was seen to actively engage in the fight, throwing punches and acting violently towards others, including the security and the staff at Mieplace Niteclub,” police prosecutor Sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins said.
Sgt Hoskins said when police questioned Llewellyn-Bond, he told them he was defending himself against other people who hit him.
The court heard there were no assault complaints as a result of Llewellyn-Bond’s actions.
He had no criminal history.
Solicitor Rio Ramos said Llewellyn-Bond was unemployed and wanting to get into a traineeship or apprenticeship.
She said he had learned his lesson and submitted no conviction be recorded.
Magistrate Mary Buchanan fined Llewellyn-Bond $750 and no conviction was recorded.
