Meth pipes, MDMA and grinders used in three separate drug offences

Three people faced court in Gladstone recently charged with drug offences which included MDMA, marijuana and electric grinders.

From a teenager busted with 25 grams of marijuana, to a woman trying to downplay her drug utensil possession, these are the drug offenders from Monday’s Gladstone Magistrates Court sitting.

Ayesha Jade Cubby-Roadley, 18, pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and possessing property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.

A court heard that on July 11, around 1.50am, police patrolling Gladstone’s safe night precinct were flagged down by members of the public due to Cubby-Roadley’s disorderly behaviour.

Cubby-Roadley was arrested and transported to the Gladstone watch house due to a public nuisance offence on Yarroon Street, Gladstone Central.

During a search, police located a clip seal bag which contained 0.1 grams of MDMA powder in Cubby-Roadley’s bag.

Further, police located 25 grams of marijuana wrapped in foil and a brass cone piece which contained residue.

Cubby-Roadley said the MDMA and cannabis were hers and was subsequently issued a Notice To Appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey convicted and ordered Cubby-Roadley to attend drug diversion and placed her on a six month good behaviour order with a $200 recognisance.

Anzac Richard Nettles, 21, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday to possessing drugs and possessing utensils or pipes that had been used.

A court heard that on September 7, around 1pm, Gladstone police executed a search warrant on an Ormonde Street address in relation to property offences.

Upon searching the address, police located a bowl which contained less than a gram of marijuana in the living room.

When questioned, Nettles made admissions to owning the dangerous drug.

Police further searched an upstairs bedroom and located a glass and brass pipe.

When questioned Nettles said the pipes were his and that he used the glass pipe to smoke meth and the brass pipe to smoke marijuana.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey convicted and ordered Nettles to attend drug diversion and placed him on a six month good behaviour order with a $200 recognisance.

A court heard Gladstone police executed a search warrant on Brown’s Keating Street address in Tannum Sands at 9.36am on July 21.

During the search, police located utensils inside a backpack in the laundry on top of a hot water system.

The utensils included digital scales, plastic straws, a filter and two used clip seal bags containing a white crystal residue.

When questioned, Brown said the bag had been there for “like forever” but did not take ownership of the bag stating, “It could be a friend’s”.

Brown did not tell police who owned the bag and further stated “I didn’t even know that s--- was in there”.

Brown concluded by saying “It wouldn’t be mine but obviously I can’t really say.”

She failed to provide police with a reasonable excuse why the utensils were in her house and did not want to provide police with any further details.

She was convicted and fined $400. A conviction was recorded.
