John William Sten, 42, pleads guilty to two charges after loud house party of one

A man who was instructed by police to turn his music down. just would not listen. As he was being escorted out, he let loose at police.

John William Sten, 42, pleaded guilty to committing a public nuisance and compliance with Noise Abatement Direction.

A man who abused police after being ordered to turn his music down appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

John William Sten, 42, pleaded guilty to committing a public nuisance and compliance with Noise Abatement Direction.

On May 21, police attended a unit on William Street, Gladstone Central following a noise complaint.

On arrival, police detected extremely amplified music coming from Sten’s unit which could be heard from several blocks away.

After repeated knocking and calling by police, Sten eventually came to the front door and was issued a Noise Abatement Direction which banned him from excessive noise for 96 hours.

After police left the address and walked back to their car, Sten turned the music back up to its original volume.

Police also heard Sten singing at the top of his voice to the music which could clearly be heard from the street.

Police walked back to Sten’s address and subsequently arrested him for contravening the Noise Abatement Direction, seizing his amplifier used in connection with the noise.

As police escorted Sten out of the unit he yelled, “f---ing dog” and, “F--- you”.

Police had already warned Sten in relation to his language a short time earlier.

Sten was transported to Gladstone watch house and later issued a notice to appear in the Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Sten was convicted and placed on a six month probation order with no convictions recorded.
