Jenene Mary Davidson sentenced for .292 drink driving
A Central Qld magistrate has reacted to a woman’s shocking drink-driving reading by saying “that’s the highest reading I think I’ve ever dealt with”.
A Central Queensland woman busted drink driving while almost six times the legal limit has faced court.
Jenene Mary Davidson, 46, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to drink driving.
The court heard police intercepted Davidson on Boyne Island Rd about 11.25pm on October 21.
It was told Davidson complied with all police requirements and directions, telling them she was “really intoxicated”.
She was also “extremely emotional”, the court heard.
“And she required police assistance to walk to the ambulance,” the police prosecutor said.
Davidson was taken to Gladstone Hospital where she provided a specimen of blood and subsequently returned a blood alcohol content of .292.
She had no criminal history and no like traffic offending in the past five years.
A self-represented Davidson tendered a written submission to the court.
Magistrate Mary Buchanan said “that’s the highest reading I think I’ve ever dealt with”.
She noted Davidson had suffered from a series of adverse personal things which had impacted her mental health and the offence happened while she was self-medicating with alcohol.
Ms Buchanan further noted that Davidson had got into rehabilitation and received medical assistance.
The magistrate said she accepted the offending was “out of character” and she placed Davidson on 18 months’ probation and disqualified her from driving for 18 months.
A traffic conviction was recorded.
