A drunk apprentice boilermaker sprayed police officers with a foul rant, calling them “f---ing dog c---s” as he was arrested at a Gladstone nightclub.

A man has faced court after a run-in with police at Gladstone’s Mieplace Niteclub.

A man has faced court after he launched an expletive-laden spray at police officers during a Gladstone nightclub incident.

Elijah Keith Martin, 21, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on May 2 to obstructing police in the vicinity of a licensed premises, possessing a restricted medicine and possessing an item suspected of being used in a drug offence.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Tanya Griffiths said about 11.50pm on April 14, police saw Martin arguing with security at Gladstone’s Mieplace Niteclub.

Sgt Griffiths said Martin was intoxicated and police asked him what had gone on and why he was refusing to leave the nightclub.

The prosecutor said Martin was swearing and he told police he wanted to re-enter the nightclub to bash someone.

Sgt Griffiths said Martin tried to walk away from police, threw his arms around, and refused to stop when asked to.

Sgt Griffiths said Martin refused to comply with police directions and he was arrested.

The prosecutor said while police were trying to handcuff Martin, he tensed his body and called officers “F---ing dog c---s.”

The court heard police subsequently found Martin in possession of a schedule four medicine which he did not have a script for, and a clip-seal bag believed to have been used in the commission of a drug offence.

The court heard the only offence Martin had on his criminal history was a common assault in May last year.

Solicitor Bianca Wieland said Martin was an apprentice boilermaker who was intoxicated on the night of his offending.

Ms Wieland said Martin was remorseful for what he did.

The solicitor said on the night of the incident, Martin had been trying to go back inside the nightclub to help a friend who’d got into an argument with someone.

Acting Magistrate Mary Buchanan fined Martin $300 and ordered he perform 40 hours of unpaid community service.
