A man told his victim he would inflict the pain of losing her on her pets in a wild flurry of text messages, a court heard.
The man, 36, also told the woman that if she died, so would all of her pets.
He pleaded guilty in the Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday to contravening a domestic violence order.
Prosecutor Sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins told the court police were called to a street in Glen Eden On August 10, around 11.30pm.
“Upon their arrival police spoke to the defendant and the aggrieved and obtained versions of a domestic incident,” Ms Hoskins said.
“The aggrieved stated she and the defendant had a heated verbal argument so she went for a drive as she did not want to be in the house.
“The argument continued via text as the defendant was of the belief the aggrieved was going to commit suicide.”
Ms Hoskins said that during the argument, around 11.10pm, the man sent the aggrieved text messages.
“The messages read ‘If you die so do all of your pets’ and the pain you give to me and our boys, I will take it out on your pets,” Ms Hoskins said.
The defendant admitted the text messages were detrimental and said he sent them as he was trying to stop the aggrieved from harming herself.
Magistrate Bevan Manthey placed the man on a six month good behaviour bond with a $400 recognisance. No conviction was recorded.
