Drink drivers and drug drivers who faced Gladstone Magistrates Court

A young woman busted driving twice in the space of weeks with both meth and cannabis in her system was among the latest offenders caught. SEE THE LIST.

The following people pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to either drink driving or drug driving offences.

DRINK DRIVING

TRAFFIC CONVICTION RECORDED

GEOFFREY THOMAS CAVANOUGH, 34

Cavanough blew a reading of .218 after police intercepted him on the Dawson Highway at Gladstone, on July 17.

He pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on August 19 to drink driving.

Solicitor Jun Pepito said Cavanough was a father who had been attending Alcohol and Other Drugs Service (AODS) for his issues.

The court heard that Cavanough had previously worked for Queensland Ambulance Service and he was hoping to get back into that employment.

With no similar offending in the past five years, Cavanough was fined $1200 and disqualified from driving for nine months.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

SARA MARLIE GIUMELLI, 33

Giumelli blew a reading of .098 and tested positive for methamphetamine after police intercepted her on the Bruce Highway at Benaraby, on June 2.

She pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on July 23 to drink driving and drug driving.

With no similar offending in the past five years, Giumelli, a coal miner, was fined $800 and disqualified from driving for four months.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

CRAIG RICHARD FRANZI, 58

Franzi returned a reading of .050 after police intercepted him on Gladstone-Mount Larcom Road on June 23.

He pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on July 23 to drink driving.

With no prior similar offending, Franzi was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

CHLOE REBECCA OLSEN, 22

Olsen was caught driving with cannabis in her system on Dawson Road, West Gladstone, on June 16.

She pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on August 19 to drug driving.

With no prior offending of this sort, Olsen, currently unemployed, was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

TY JAMES HOPTON-KNIGHT, 25

P-plater Hopton-Knight was caught driving with methamphetamine and cannabis in his system on Auckland Street, Gladstone, on June 11.

He pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on August 19 to drug driving.

The court heard Hopton-Knight had recently lost his job and with one similar offence in the past five years, he was fined $550 and disqualified from driving for three months.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

LEONARD NEVILLE RAWLINGS, 55

Rawlings was caught driving with cannabis in his system on Goondoon Street, Gladstone, on April 26.

He pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on August 19 to drug driving.

With no prior offending of this sort, Rawlings, a painter, was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for two months.

He successfully applied for a restricted work licence.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

ADAM CHRISTERPHER MCKAY, 26

McKay was caught driving with cannabis in his system on the Dawson Highway, Burua, on June 9.

He pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on August 19 to drug driving.

With no previous offending of this sort, McKay, a fitter, was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

RAELEY MAREE TRUSWELL, 26

Truswell was caught drug driving twice in the space of weeks, both times with methamphetamine and cannabis in her system.

She pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on August 19 to two counts of drug driving.

The court heard police busted Truswell the first time on May 21, on Palm Drive, Gladstone.

Then on June 9, she was caught on Tank Street, Gladstone.

With no previous similar offending, Truswell, who is about to start a business traineeship, was fined $900 and disqualified from driving for two months.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

JYROME PETERSON, 21

P-plater Peterson was caught driving with cannabis in his system on Brisbane Street, Gladstone, on June 6.

He pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on August 19 to drug driving.

With no previous offending of this sort, Peterson, a landscaper, was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

KYRAN JOHANNES VELDHUIZEN, 30

Veldhuizen was caught driving with cannabis in his system on Twelve Mile Road, Marmor, on June 1.

He pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on July 23 to drug driving.

With a previous similar offence in the past five years, Veldhuizen was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

NO TRAFFIC CONVICTION RECORDED

MICHAEL JAMES ROBINSON, 41

Robinson was caught driving with cannabis in his system on Tank Street, Gladstone, on May 7.

He pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court on August 19 to drug driving.

With a previous similar offence in the past five years, Robinson, a disability support worker, was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for three months.

No traffic conviction was recorded.
