A Gladstone labourer was busted with methamphetamine just weeks after being sentenced for his spending spree with a stolen credit card.
Darryl Richard Holt, 52, pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to possessing dangerous drugs, possessing a knife in public, breaching bail and failing to appear in court.
The court heard that on June 8, police found Holt in possession of a knife on the Dawson Highway, West Gladstone, and he also had .2g of methamphetamine.
Holt had a two-page criminal history which included dishonesty offending.
In May this year, Holt pleaded guilty in Gladstone Magistrates Court to charges including one count of stealing and six counts of fraud.
On that occasion the court heard Holt stole a person’s bank card in January and then went on a spending spree with it that day.
He racked up $787.20 worth of purchases from several shops including a teddy and roses, goods from Woolworths, alcohol, and items from an adult store.
During Holt’s court matters on November 13, solicitor Jun Pepito said his client, a father of two, worked as a labourer at a second-hand shop and he’d used the drug to cope with a spinal condition.
Magistrate Mary Buchanan placed Holt on nine months’ probation and convictions were recorded.
