Alana Pacem and her co-offender shoplifted from Coles Gladstone, not once but twice, and a savvy witness was hot on their heels both times, a court has heard.

The first offence happened on April 16 when the pair put $149 worth of items in a trolley at the Dawson Highway store and proceeded to the self-serve checkout.

They scanned the items but left without making any attempt to pay for them.

A witness followed them and saw them put the stolen items in a black Mercedes Benz, the court heard.

The witness took photos of Pacem, her co-offender and the Mercedes.

Then on June 7, Pacem struck at the same Coles store.

Again with a co-offender, she put $100 worth of items in a trolley and used the self-serve checkout, leaving the store without paying.

A witness saw the shoplifting take place, followed the pair to their vehicle and took photos.

These facts were accepted by Pacem, 34, in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Monday where she pleaded guilty to two counts of shoplifting.

Police prosecutor Jennifer Leach said, in relation to the first offence, as well as witness photos, police also viewed CCTV footage.

Ms Leach said on June 24, police executed a warrant at Pacem’s residence where they found clothing worn by her and the co-offender when they committed the shoplifting offences.

Pacem was subsequently charged.

The court did not hear whether the co-offender had been charged and the prosecution sought restitution from Pacem.

Pacem had no criminal history.

Solicitor Stephen White said Pacem was a mother of two and the prosecution submission for probation and restitution was not opposed.

Mr White asked that no conviction be recorded given Pacem had no criminal history.

Magistrate Mary Buchanan placed Pacem on a nine-month good behaviour order with a $500 recognisance.

Pacem was also ordered to pay $123.50 restitution and no conviction was recorded.
