The Gladstone Super Show is on track to go ahead this weekend, after its shock cancellation last month.
After having to initially cancel due to issues with ride operators and entertainers insurance, organisers have resolved all issues ahead of Gladstone’s biggest show.
Gladstone Show entertainment contractor Clive Featherby said the show would go off with a ‘bang’ to celebrate Gladstone Show Society president Noel Reddacliff.
“It’s the last ever show for the president who has been here for 40 years, we wanted to make it special for his sake,” Mr Featherby said.
“We’re thrilled for the show society they have finally got the show going.”
Mr Featherby said residents could look forward to a $30,000 entertainment package of monster trucks, helicopters, stunt shows, fire stunts, motorcycles, speedway show, laser light show and more.
Show representative Robyn Reddacliff said pavilion entries were at a record level but were still taking any further art, craft and regular entries.
“Tickets at fantastically affordable family pricing are now available direct from the show office or online from this Monday or at the gate,” she said.
Ahead of Saturday’s show, The Observer had the chance to experience what it was like to drive Australia’s greatest monster truck, Outback Thunda.
Reporter Eilish Massie got behind the wheel for a quick driving circuit around the grounds.
Lucky for her, it was built like an automatic car so with great relief she knew where the brake was and did not run anything over.
While the adrenaline rush was real, she decided to leave it to the experts who will very much provide an entertaining show this Saturday.
The Gladstone Super Show is held at the Gladstone Showgrounds on July 10 from 10am. Tickets at the gate.
