Gladstone residents encouraged to get their hands dirty this National Plant a Tree Day 2021

Gladstone residents are being encouraged to get their hands dirty for a good cause, with National Plant a Tree Day just around the corner.

Toyota Australia and Planet Ark’s partnership has continued into its 21st year, with Gladstone Regional Council, Bill Robertson Toyota Gladstone and Conservation Volunteers to conduct a free community tree planting event this weekend.

Dealer principal at Bill Robertson Toyota James Robertson said National Tree Day was an important national campaign.

“Toyota dealerships across the country use National Tree Day as a fulfilling opportunity to connect with our local communities and to do good for our environment,” Mr Robertson said.

“National Tree Day is an opportunity for all Australians to dig in and get their hands dirty to help preserve the environment for future generations to come.

“Toyota Australia is committed to a greener tomorrow and we are proud to always see such a great turnout at live sites all around the country, year on year.”

The Gladstone community is invited to head along Sunday, August 1 from 9am to 12pm at Cashin Park, The Oaks Road, Tannum Sands.

The Bill Robertson Toyota team will be offering a free BBQ for all attendees plus the folks from Creative Recycling Centre and Gladstone Wildlife Carers will have some fun kids activities.

All equipment is supplied, however, please wear closed-in shoes, sun safe gear and take water bottles.

Please note, no toilet facilities are on site and no dogs are allowed.

This is a free, all ages event, however it will be run with a covid safe plan, so registrations to attend are highly recommended.

Help make a difference to the local environment by participating in this community planting event, RSVP by 5pm, July 30 via the council website.

National Tree Day is organised by Planet Ark in partnership with Toyota Australia and its Dealer Network which provides on-the-ground support at tree planting sites across Australia.
