“It was entirely my fault, and I am embarrassed, but I take full responsibility for my actions.

“I had three beers in three hours and thought I was okay to drive home.

“I was wrong.

“I want to take this opportunity to apologise to the community I love for my actions.

“I only hope that my experience can serve as a reminder to others to be safe on our roads and not to risk driving if there is any chance you could be over the limit.”

Cr Burnett is due to appear in court at a later date.
