CANDIDATES
One Nation: Andrew Jackson
Andrew Jackson’s vision for the area includes gaining more benefit from the wealth of Queensland’s raw materials.
He says he’s dedicated to sustaining and enhancing the community.
The Greens: Beau Pett
Beau Pett says mortgages, bills, rents and the cost of basic groceries are out of control, while big corporations and billionaires continue to rake in record profits.
He says the Gladstone community deserves well-funded essential services like schools and hospitals, affordable housing, cheaper groceries, and a healthy environment.
Legalise Cannabis Queensland: Brianna Corcoran
Brianna Corcoran is a supporter and volunteer of Legalise Cannabis Queensland Party and has seen the social and medical benefits of cannabis.
Her goal is to erase the stigma for young and old, to enable people to live a better quality of life through legal, affordable use.
Family First: Christopher Herring
Christopher Herring believes strong families, freedom for faith, and protecting the most vulnerable are critical for the future of our community and our state.
Independent: Murray Peterson
Murray Peterson says he isn’t chained to a political party so is free to represent the best interests of the people of Gladstone with the technical knowledge to make informed decisions.
His plans include bringing more justice to the legal system.
Labor: Glenn Butcher
The sitting member says since 2015 the Queensland Government has delivered over $452 million for infrastructure and investments for the Gladstone Electorate.
These include the East Shores waterfront recreational precinct, $42 million to construct Gladstone Hospital’s New Emergency and Accident Department and purchasing the Mater Hospital and developing the West Wing of the Gladstone Hospital.
He said that investment in Gladstone’s future was ongoing, listing the $983 million Fitzroy to Gladstone pipeline as another major project for the region.
LNP: Steve Askew
Steve Askew, a member of the Gladstone community for 26 years, says many locals are currently struggling due to the cost-of-living crisis and he wants to improve that affordability issue by ensuring Gladstone gets its fair share.
He says his experience with the military and as a contractor manager has provided him with strong communication skills and effective leadership in highly demanding environments.

CANDIDATES
The Greens: Matthew Passant
Matthew Passant is focused on fighting the cost of living crisis affecting Queenslanders through high rents, mortgages, building costs, soaring power bills and expensive groceries.
He says The Greens have a plan to tackle these issues which include making big corporations pay “their fair share” and use that money to build 100,000 public homes, fully fund schools and free childcare, hospitals and essential service while also freezing rents and capping increases.
One Nation: Chris O’Callaghan
Mr O’Callaghan is a self-employed contractor constructing water treatment plants.
Family is his motivation and he wants to leave behind a peaceful and prosperous future for the next generation.
He says it’s time to reclaim Aussie values, prosperity, and a positive direction for all.
He says Australia needs strong, fearless, and determined people ready to fight for our country, our state, and our communities.
Labor: Samantha Dendle
Samantha Dendle wants to deliver cost of living relief, quality healthcare closer to home and better jobs.
On her Labor profile, the 2024 Banana Shire Young Australian of the Year and 2023’s YMCA’s Queensland Youth parliament deputy premier said she would fight for education and health care.
She says a Labor government would back local workers through the energy and jobs plans to ensure workers at Callide Power Station could transition into clean energy jobs of the future.
On her profile Ms Dendle also says she is also an advocate for youth development.
Independent: Duncan Scott
Former dairy farmer Duncan Scott is running as an Independent for the Callide seat.
Having run in every election since 2007, including six federal elections in Flynn and two state elections in Callide in 2012 and 2015, Mr Scott is making his ninth bid for parliament this month.
His main focus is to try and bring back services to the area.
His career has included serving in the Army Reserves and working in the forestry industry.
