Emergency services raced to scene of ultralight incident
A pilot in his 70s has survived an emergency light plane landing in a rural field in Central Qld.
Emergency services, including a rescue chopper, raced to the scene of an emergency ultralight plane landing in a field south of Rockhampton.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said an urban crew had confirmed no injuries or entrapments and had disconnected the aircraft’s fuel lines.
He said the rescue chopper had also arrived on scene about 11.30am.
Emergency services had been alerted to the light plane landing about 10am.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said the pilot of the plane, aged in his 70s was the sole occupant, and had contacted Rockhampton Airport saying that he was running low on fuel and that he was forced to make an emergency landing.
After landing he made contact with Queensland Ambulance Service and advised he was out of the plane did not need medical attention.
Queensland Fire Department and QPS crews made their way to the crash site through rural properties using 4WD vehicles.
Roads conditions are believed to be still wet and difficult after recent rain.
