Gladstone Regional Council’s Deputy Mayor has outlined the organisation’s 2022 wish list, with a few surprises in store after a tumultuous 2021.
With Mayor Matt Burnett on a week’s leave, Kahn Goodluck stepped up to complete the important task of setting out council’s direction for 2022.
Cr Goodluck said his wish list would start off by hoping everyone would have a happy, healthy and successful 2022, particularly amid the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“(The year) 2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year for our region with focus on a number of Council’s Strategic Priority projects including Inland Rail extension to the Gladstone Port, Gladstone Heavy Vehicle Transport Corridor, the Boyne Tannum Aquatic Recreation Centre and renewable energy and transitioning economy with the development of new industries such as hydrogen,” Cr Goodluck said.
Cr Good luck continued by stating that in a rapidly changing global economy, the Gladstone region was uniquely positioned to show the world how it is done.
“We will do so by maintaining our industrial heritage and decarbonising our economy, setting us up for a bright future with opportunities for workers and business alike,” he said.
“I am excited for the challenges and that lie ahead and seeing our region and our people grow and prosper.”
