A Gladstone car dealership owner said he was surprised to be recognised as a community trailblazer at the 2021 Motor Trades Association of Queensland Awards last weekend.
Bill Robertson Toyota was awarded the community award for its longstanding support of the Gladstone and Central Queensland communities.
Dealer principal James Robertson said he was surprised to be recognised on a state-level, with the branch taking home its first community award.
“We were very surprised, we weren’t expecting to win a statewide award,” he said.
“We were pretty happy at the same time, we enjoy the work that we do and it was great to be recognised.”
Mr Robertson said one of the most rewarding aspects of his businesses role in the community was the people.
“It is really just being able to help different community organisations achieve their goals,” she said.
“Additionally, we meet people we wouldn’t usually have met so that is rewarding too.”
Mr Robertson said his business did not serve the community for the accolades.
“We have long-term partnerships with some community organisations and we enjoy watching those grow annually based on the investment we do together,” he said.
Mr Robertson thanked his loyal customers of the wider Gladstone region.
“We wouldn’t be able to give anything if we didn’t have any local customers, so we are extremely grateful for the customers we do have,” he said.
“We look forward to servicing their needs in the future.”
