SES volunteers and police divers were called in to search for missing Gatton teenager Jayde Kendall in bushland at Walloon on Wednesday after an item belonging to the 16-year-old was found in the area.

Police say they have growing concerns for the Lockyer District High School student, who went missing on Friday and is yet to contact friends or family.

She was last seen at her school and was spotted getting into a red car.

Jayde was noticed missing when her father went to pick her up from her work at McDonald's on Friday night.

Detective Inspector Dave Isherwood said Jayde's father contacted police because it was "totally out of character that she would not be there".

Police said the driver of the red car was known to Jayde and had been interviewed.
