Marburg man takes out $1.2m Saturday Gold Lotto win

A South East Queensland man remains weary-eyed after his stunning Saturday Gold Lotto discovery.
The man from Marburg, in the Brisbane Valley region was one of four national division one winners, each taking home a score of more than $1.2m.
Unable to believe his eyes, the man revealed he repeatedly checked the ticket online to be certain the life-changing news was true, he told an official from The Lott.
“We’ve been looking to buy a house, so it’s come at a perfect time,” he said.
“I told my wife, and she didn’t believe me at first. We jumped straight on the internet and started looking at all sorts of cars and houses and holiday destinations.
“I couldn’t sleep after that. In fact, I haven’t really slept for the past two days.”
A regular Lotto player, the man said he’d decided to go out on a whim and buy a QuickPick instead of his usual weekly entry, purchasing the ticket from the local Spar Express.
“We know we need to be smart with our decisions, so although we’ve been daydreaming, we’ll be speaking with a financial adviser first,” he said.
Spar Express Marburg owner Ankush Basatia said his team were over the moon to have sold the winning division one ticket.
“We’ll be celebrating throughout the week and letting all our customers know the amazing news,” he said.
“This is our first ever division one winning entry we’ve sold, and we can’t wait for more to be sold in future.
“Heartiest congratulations to the division one winner. We’re super thankful for all of our customer’s ongoing support. Good luck for future entries to all.”
