RACQ spokeswoman Renee Smith said low prices weren’t expected to last more than a couple more days at most.
“When some go, the others aren’t too far behind,” Ms Smith said.
“The message is: fill up now.”
Brisbane’s cheapest suburbs for fuel were Jindalee, Sumner Park and Mt Ommaney, where prices averaged $1.04 a litre according to CommSec.
Nationally, prices hit a 17-week high with an average price of 125.7 cents a litre.
Ms Smith said Brisbane motorists were already being “ripped off” at the bowser compared to previous fuel cycles.
“We didn’t get to as low in the price cycle as we should have,” she said.
“We (usually) have the opportunity to fill up at close to wholesale, which many parts of Queensland very rarely see.”
Prices in Brisbane’s inner north were already around 145.9 cents a litre for unleaded, with Ms Smith urging motorists to take advantage of apps to find cheaper fuel.
