“You were the most amazing person,” she wrote.

On Monday, Curra man Alexander Mcleish said he was unpacking groceries when he heard a “screech of brakes” and a “thud which would have been the truck go on its side.”

Mr Mcleish jumped back in his car to see if he could help anyone at the scene.

“I had a look at it and I thought ‘there’s absolutely nothing I can do here’ because the cab was crushed right up against the telegraph pole,” he said.

“I didn’t realise there were two in the truck.”

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash.

Anyone with information or who may have dashcam footage of the crash or the moments leading up to is asked to contact police.
