A car has crashed into a median strip on the Bruce Hwy, causing delays between Gympie and Maryborough.

It’s understood the car crashed at the corner of the highway and Bolderrow Rd about 3pm.

Nobody was seriously injured however, at least one lane of traffic is being impacted.

It comes after a man was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a critical condition following a serious crash involving a flat-bed semi-trailer and car on the Bruce Highway at Tiaro on Friday.

Multiple emergency crews were called to the scene about 10.10am in the small township south of Maryborough near the highway’s intersections with Burgess St and Station.

A QAS spokeswoman said the man, aged in his 20s and the only occupant of the car, suffered life-threatening chest and head injuries.

Fireys worked for more than half an hour to free him from the wreckage.

He was then taken to a nearby rescue helicopter and flown to the Sunshine Coast.

The truck driver was able to escape his own vehicle following the crash and suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Traffic built up for kilometres on either side of Tiaro after the Bruce Hwy was cut.
