Police investigate suspicious house fire in Pialba
Police are investigating a ‘suspicious’ house fire on the Fraser Coast, after two people were evacuated in the early hours of the morning.

Police are treating a Pialba house fire as suspicious, after a single-storey brick home caught fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
A Queensland Police spokesman said Maryborough detectives were investigating what sparked the blaze on Old Maryborough Rd, near Hastings St, at Pialba.
A QPS spokesman said the house was “extensively damaged by fire and smoke” and police forensic officers remained at the scene for some time.
“The occupiers escaped the fire unharmed,” a QPS spokesman said.
Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen anyone in the area on Tuesday morning, or those who may have dashcam footage, to contact crime stoppers.
Two people were evacuated from the house after it caught fire.
Earlier, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the fire started about 5.20am in a single-storey brick home on Old Maryborough Rd, near Hastings St, at Pialba.
It was fully extinguished about an hour later, he said.
The blaze first come to attention because of “large volumes of smoke” being reported coming from the residence, the spokesman said.
Police were also at the scene on Tuesday morning.
Two people were assessed by paramedics, but were uninjured and did not need transportation to hospital, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said.
Ambulance crews remained on standby throughout the incident to assist QFES, she said.
