Tragedy has struck on Christmas Eve after the body of a teenage boy was found after he went missing in the Mary River. Here’s what we know:

Tragedy has struck on Christmas Eve after the body of a teenager was found after he fell into the Mary River while water-tubing and failed to resurface.
The child was last seen about 10.15am on Sunday when the incident happened.
His body was recovered by police divers just after 6pm, December 24.
A desperate search was carried out in the hours before the boy’s body was recovered.
Multiple emergency crews including Queensland police, swift water teams, drones, a LifeFlight rescue helicopter, SES, QFES firefighters were sinvolved in the search of the Mary River and its banks near Greensill Rd at Owanyilla, 20km southwest of Maryborough.
The death is not considered suspicious, and police will prepare a report for the coroner.
Police are currently assisting the boy’s family who have requested privacy during this difficult time.
