Watch: One drink driver out of 400 tests during police blitz at Maryborough

Police are praising drivers and the efforts of officers after a roadside breath testing blitz of 400 drivers returned almost perfect results, except for one lone stand-out.

One person out of 400 got busted drink driving in a recent blitz.

When police carried out more than 400 roadside breath tests in an overnight blitz on the Bruce Hwy at Maryborough last week, officers were pleased only one driver returned a positive result.

A 29-year-old Coorparoo man was charged with low-range drink driving and driving unlicensed.

He was given a notice to appear at Maryborough Magistrates Court on January 8, 2024.

Acting Inspector Shelley Moore said that the results showed that the high visibility patrols and safety messaging were working.

“The community is heeding the message that you can expect to see us anywhere, anytime,” she said.

“If you’re drinking or using drugs and driving these holidays, think about what you’re willing to lose, your licence, your life, or the lives of your loved ones.”
