A power tools giant, with more than 60 stores across Australia, has revealed plans to build a $4.5m hardware and trade supplies warehouse in Hervey Bay.
The applicant is industrial power tools wholesaler and retailer Sydney Tools Pty Ltd.
According to the development application before Fraser Coast Regional Council, the project will take about 18 months to complete and support more than “30 jobs locally across various trades”.
The developer is eyeing off the vacant block of land next to the BP Service Station at 168-172 Main St, Kawungan.
According to the application, the single-storey “industrial building” will accommodate three different retail shops.
One of the tenancies will be occupied by Sydney Tools.
“Once construction is completed and the proposed development is operational, the development will support the direct employment of up to 20 full-time employees,” the applications says.
It is proposed the 3384sq m development will have a “striking facade” in an array of colours and shapes.
It will also include warehouse, showroom and storage components.
“The proposed development has been designed to contribute to a modern and accessible mixed use precinct with services and amenity provided for workers and customers,” the application says.
There will be 59 car parking spaces, including two disability car spaces, with site access on Main St and Innotech Dr.
The application was received by Fraser Coast council on July 27, 2022.
Further information has been requested by council for consideration.
