Smoke coming from glider at Maryborough Airport

Firefighters were called to Maryborough airport where smoke was seen billowing from a glider. UPDATES.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to Maryborough airport after receiving reports of smoke coming from a motorised glider.

One crew arrived at Saltwater Creek Road and Island Plantation Road around 3.20pm on Tuesday.

The Maryborough Fire and Rescue Station told the Chronicle the glider landed safely at the airport at Gate 2.

According to QFES, there were two people onboard the glider at the time, and they were forced to land at 3:25pm.

Paramedics were tasked to the scene, but were not needed as the two people were not injured.

The Australian Transport and Safety Bureau was notified.
