In the wake of the disappearance of Gin Gin’s Pheobe Bishop and the recovery of her body three weeks later, the focus has shifted to an unsolved Maryborough case.
Pheobe became the focus of a maelstrom of media attention after she was reported missing on May 15 after she failed to check in for a flight from Bundaberg on her way to Western Australia where she was supposed to meet with her boyfriend, Levi.
A major investigation began after it was discovered Pheobe failed to board her flight and she was not captured on CCTV inside the airport.
The couple Phoebe was living with in squalid conditions at a home in Gin Gin have since been charged with her murder, James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33. The pair are yet to enter a plea and the case is ongoing.
The pair were arrested on June 5 following a failed search to find the missing teen, and were charged with murder and two counts of interfering with a corpse.
Pheobe’s body was discovered near Good Night Scrub National Park the following day.
Police allege Pheobe was killed on Airport Drive in Kensington where she was last seen carrying baggage but never made her flight.
It is not suggested either Ms Bromley or Mr Wood have any connection to these missing men.
Now attention has turned to the case of a missing Maryborough man, with a group forming in the hopes he can be brought home to his family.
Joe-Dylan Coombes has been missing since March 29 when he was last seen near the Henry Palmer Bridge on the Bruce Highway during the chaos of ex-tropical cyclone Alfred.
A Facebook page aimed at bringing the 26-year-old home has now been posted and his father, Mark Coombes, gave an interview to 7NEWS last week, pleading with his son to contact someone and let them know he was safe.
Joe was one of six siblings and was known for his love of farming, football and his loved ones.
A full-scale search was launched in the wake of his disappearance, however Joe has not been found.
Joe-Dylan is described as caucasian with short brown hair and green eyes.
In Urangan, another man also remains missing.
Dylan Driessens, who was 23 at the time, was reported missing on June 24, 2022.
At the time his brother Joel told this publication Dylan had left on June 23 about 3pm to go for a swim at Urangan but never returned home.
According to police, his bank accounts had been untouched, leaving his family anxious about his whereabouts.
He was last seen walking towards Urangan Pier wearing a black beanie, green hoodie, black jean shorts and grey and white joggers.
Joel said it was out of character for Dylan not to be in contact with his family.
In the wake of Dylan’s disappearance, SES crews searched in dense bushland near Hervey Bay Botanical Gardens in the hopes of locating any sign of Dylan.
In the aftermath of the search, Inspector Paul Algie said items were found in the sand dunes at Urangan, including Dylan’s phone, clothing and an empty rum bottle.
However, he has never been found.
Dylan is described as caucasian in appearance, about 175cm tall with a proportionate build, light brown hair, blue eyes and tattoos on his hands.
