Australian accommodation management company 1834 Hotels, founded in 2013, will take the management reigns of both resorts which are owned by Sealink and their parent company, Kelsian Group.

1834 Hotels CEO Andrew Bullock said his company was “honoured and to be entrusted” with the resorts.

“Our proven track record in driving operational excellence and sustainable value aligns perfectly with the vision Kelsian and SeaLink have for K’gari’s future,” he said.

“We look forward to working with the local community and existing teams to deliver memorable stays that respect and showcase this extraordinary destination.”

The management overhaul, which will come into effect on August 1, 2025, will involve 1834 Hotels assuming full operational control of the resorts.

Kelsian Group bought both resorts in 2018 for $43 million from Japanese real estate group Cosmos Initia, with the deal including assets such as K’gari Explorer Tours.

Sealink CEO Donna Gauci says the deal would “continue to deliver the exceptional experiences that our guests expect while positioning the assets for future success.”

“We are confident this collaboration will maintain the high standards SeaLink is known for and provide ongoing strong leadership for the K’gari team,” she added.

Sealink, originally known for its marine transport business, will continue to operate the marine and touring services.

With this deal, 1834 Hotels has expanded its business portfolio to more than 4000 hotels nationwide.
