Fine-dining is soon to be back at Brolga Theatre, with the Fraser Coast Council calling for tenders to run a restaurant and catering service at the cultural hub as well as a cafe at the Hervey Bay Regional Gallery.
The theatre’s riverside views and choice of flexible spaces, makes it one of the most desirable venues on the Fraser Coast, Councillor Phil Truscott said.
The theatre, which plays host to prestigious local, national, and international events and performances, features a restaurant space with separate entry, adjoining a fully equipped commercial kitchen and seating for up to 80 diners.
“The Fraser Coast is blessed with a range of amazing cultural venues, with the Brolga Theatre and Convention Centre holding on average 270 events and 58 performances attended by more than 50,000 people a year,” he said.
“While the Hervey Bay Regional Gallery is currently closed, a major $2.7m refurbishment is well underway ahead of a reopening in April this year.
“The gallery refurbishment will allow the Fraser Coast to host more national and significant art exhibitions, while also providing space for a counter-style cafe, a small kitchen and seating for up to 30 customers on an outdoor dining deck.”
Mr Truscott said the Brolga Theatre previously had a restaurant and in-house catering service and Council was keen to bring the service back to support the primary operations of the venue.
“The council is looking for innovative proposals for restaurant and catering services that are willing to tailor their business model to support this unique partnership opportunity.
He invited tenderers to submit proposals for either or both leasing and catering opportunities, with the council offering three year contracts with options for extensions.
