Rescue helicopter winches sick man off K’gari
A man aged in his 30s was airlifted to hospital on Thursday afternoon after he was dragged from a lake on K’gari.

A man who became ill while swimming in a lake on K’gari on Thursday was airlifted off the island after being dragged from the water by friends.
The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew winched the man from K‘gari about 4pm.
It’s believed he had walked to the lake on the eastern side of the island.

It was decided to winch the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service Flight Paramedic down to provide immediate treatment and secure the man into a stretcher.
He and the medical crew were then hoisted up to the safety of the helicopter.
The patient, aged in his 30s, was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital for further treatment.
