A truck driver has pleaded not guilty to obstructing traffic at the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Walker St in Maryborough.
Terry Wayne Brockhurst appeared in court via telephone on the charge of unreasonably obstructing drivers or pedestrians.
A full brief of evidence was ordered to be made available to Mr Brockhurst.
Police prosecutor Leon Casey said he would receive a text message when the brief was available.
The matter was adjourned to March 10, 2025.
The alleged incident happened on September 21, 2024, just months after a triple fatal at the same intersection.
Truck drivers Daniel Stuart and Tim Hickey along with Maryborough’s Sidney Marstella died in the crash on the Walker Street intersection with the Bruce Highway at Maryborough on March 22, 2024.
A pledge was made by the LNP to upgrade the intersection with a roundabout ahead of the 2024 state election.
At the time, David Crisafulli said the Walker Street and Bruce Highway intersection upgrade was a priority for the LNP following a “staggering” increase in deaths on Wide Bay roads in the past year, and a horrific triple fatal crash at the site in March.
