Teenager charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm after crash at Pialba

A Qld teenager is accused of crashing into a pole and fleeing without any care for his seriously injured passenger, access to the Children’s Court has revealed.

A teenager charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm while excessively speeding has faced Hervey Bay Children’s Court.

The charge relates to a crash in Pialba on Taylor St on Wednesday, June 26.

Emergency services were called about 9.52pm, to reports a blue Holden Commodore had crashed into a power pole.

The driver, a 17-year-old male from Burrum Heads, was physically uninjured.

His passenger, an 18-year-old Kawungan man, was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital with serious injuries.

The teen was also facing other charges, including failing to remain at the scene and render assistance.

He appeared before the court briefly on Wednesday.

Duty lawyer Daniel Ould said he had filled out a legal aid application for the teen.

He asked for a two-week adjournment.

Magistrate Trinity McGarvie adjourned the case until November 6 and the teen remains on bail.
