Stolen car abandoned after crashing into Urangan cafe

Police are looking for the driver of a car after it crashed through bollards at Hervey Bay, into a brick wall, through a bike race and into a cafe fence in the early hours of the morning. Watch the video:

Urangan workers made a shock discovery on Friday morning when they arrived to find a badly damaged stolen car abandoned at the entrance to their cafe.

The single vehicle accident occurred on Pier Street at 3.16am on Friday with no patients found at the scene, an ambulance spokesman said.

The car is believed to have been stolen and left a trail of destruction as it crashed through bollards, into a brick wall, through a bike race and then into the cafe’s fence, where it came to a stop.

CCTV footage from Migaloos Seafood Market showed a single occupant exiting the vehicle and fleeing down Pilot Street.

The business found humour in the incident, posting the footage to Facebook with the caption: “drive through is not open yet”.

Migaloos’ owner Dylan Tralau said the business would operate as usual and was not severely damaged.

“We are operating as usual this morning having only sustained light damage and are glad nobody was injured,” he said.

Hervey Bay resident Adam Rychlik expressed his gratitude that the business was not badly damage unlike the car.

“At least not a ton (sic)of damage was done to the building. That poor car is r----d for sure,” he said.

His thoughts were echoed by Carol Sutton who said, “I am glad the building was not hit, it is a great place to eat.”

Lesley Finch was critical of the fact the car was stolen, saying “until there are consequences for stealing it will continue.”
