An unemployed Urangan woman has fronted court after fingerprints in a stolen car she’d travelled in gave her away.

An unemployed Urangan woman who was a “willing passenger” in a joy ride taken in a stolen car has been fined $750.
Searne Kya Rose Tobane, 21, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle in Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The court heard that on July 19, a black Holden commodore was involved in an accident on Pulgul Street, Urangan.
The Commodore and a Jeep Cherokee had been stolen two nights before from a Bargara address, it heard.
All occupants of the commodore fled the scene, but Tobane’s fingerprints were found inside the vehicle, which led to her eventual arrest in Kawungan on August 9, 2023.

Magistrate Guttridge fined Tobane $750, which was sent to SPER for collection. A conviction was recorded.
