On Monday, May 12, A man accused of raping a young girl twice will fight the allegations at trial.
Nicholas James Glass, 32, pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape in Hervey Bay District Court, with two distinct incidents to be alleged by prosecution.
Crown prosecutor Aden Tranent said the two allegations occurred some years ago when the young girl and Mr Glass were alone together.
The first allegedly took place when Mr Glass positioned his hand so that it was underneath her buttocks before using his fingers to penetrate her vagina.
Another individual walked into the same room a short time later, which caused the defendant to stop what he was doing, the court was told.
When the two were alone again, the prosecution alleged Mr Glass repeated the same actions on the girl.
A formal complaint about the alleged offending was not made until December, 2020.
Defence Barrister Tristan Carlos had told the jury there was evidence to be heard where they would need to “pay close attention” to, including where the incidents happened, the evidence the girl gives, and the timing of the girl’s complaints to people.
